We reserved a cabin in the Smoky's for the 2nd week in August. We are excited about this vacation. This will be our first real summer vacation in about 4 years. With Bekah playing tournament ball in the summer and then school starting the first of August, we haven't been able to work out our schedule to really go anywhere. We've taken most of our vacations around Thanksgiving. This year we will be waiting for Justin to finish summer school. That will give us a week vacation and then we'll have the week after vacation for Justin and Bekah to get ready to start to school. She moves in on the 20th and starts classes the 24th. Justin's already moving into his apartment and he'll start classes on the 22nd.
We've never been to the Smokys as a family. I've been through them many years ago as a child. Jack, Justin and Rebekah went with the youth group to the Ocoee River on a float trip in the past, but I stayed home. This trip will be a little different. We are looking at it as a kick back time. We will do some of the activities that are offered around Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, but for the most part we plan on it being a lazy week enjoying the beauty around us.
Of course I'll also get the opportunity to practice some of my photography skills. The family doesn't know it, but this is really just a nice field trip for me to do that. That's why the cabin is named "An Incredible View." (When Jack made the reservations he asked to make sure that it lives up to its name.)
One other thing that will be new for us is that Trevor will be traveling to Gatlinburg with us. It'll be interesting to see how he travels. Bekah is afraid he'll get altitude sickness. All in all it should be an interesting trip. I'm counting down the days!
