Unplanned Trip

A few weeks ago Jack and I took a trip to Highlands, North Carolina. This trip came about in a crazy sort of way. We originally had tickets to go see the Astros and Cardinals play in Houston. This was for the weekend right before Gustav came for a visit. We decided that it would not be wise to head over to Houston, so we stayed here. We then started talking about where we could go for a long weekend after things calmed down. We had decided that the beach was probably the answer. After electricity was restored and calendars started clearing a little Jack decided he could take a few more days off so then we started looking at going to St Augustine Florida. I had asked Jack if the mountains might be better, but he thought it would be too long of a drive. He was talking to one of his co-workers and mentioned our trip when his co-worker asked if we had ever been to Highlands. When we found out that it wasn't a bad drive - just a couple of hours out of Atlanta - and in the mountains, we got busy and booked the trip. The next week we were on our way and totally enjoyed our time there. For pictures and a little more detail, you can check it out at my travel blog.
